During the transaction, you receive a push notification and securely approve the payment by using Face ID or your fingerprint in the iCornèr App. Alternatively, you can confirm your identity as the card holder and verify the payment with an SMS code.
Biometric confirmation using facial recognition or a fingerprint is quick, easy and secure in the iCornèr App. Alternatively, a single-use SMS code will also enhance the security of your online transactions.
The use of 3-D Secure is free of charge – in Switzerland as well as abroad.
3-D Secure – how it works
With every card payment using 3-D Secure, you check that the transaction is correct and confirm your identity. If everything is in order, you can either approve the purchase directly in the iCornèr App by using Face ID or your fingerprint, or you can use an SMS code.
A requirement for using biometric approval for payments is that you have activated this option in the iCornèr App and enabled push notifications.
Biometric approval in the iCornèr App
- Complete your online order and enter your card details.
- You will receive a Cornèrcard push notification on your smartphone.
- Open up your iCornèr App and check the transaction.
- Confirm the payment conveniently by using Face ID or your fingerprint.
SMS code to approve payments
- Complete the online order and enter your card details.
- Open the SMS you received from Cornèrcard on your smartphone.
- Check that the transaction is correct by comparing the information in the SMS with your order.
- If everything is correct, enter the SMS code in the browser window. This completes your online purchase.

Your Cornèrcard and 3-D Secure
3-D Secure is an international security standard for online payments with credit or prepaid cards. It is also commonly known as «Mastercard Identity Check™» or «Visa Secure».
When you use Face ID or your fingerprint as biometric confirmation in the iCornèr App, you can approve your online payments easily, quickly and securely. Alternatively, you can approve payments with a single-use SMS code.
The name 3-D Secure comes from the additional, third security measure (alongside the expiry date and verification number) that you use to check and confirm every online transaction.
This ensures that nobody but you can complete a transaction with your Cornèrcard.
3-D Secure is used in Switzerland and globally by a large number of online shops. The Mastercard Identity Check™ and Visa Secure logos are some of the ways you can identify this.
